Meet the brewer

Nash Dérégnieaux

Passionate about food and cooking since childhood, Nash left home at the age of 15 to attend Westminster Kingsway College cooking school in London. Here he learned the techniques of combining ingredients and creating new flavors in a professional way until he graduated in 2008. Then he started working in several high-end cuisines around the world, such as Atelier Crenn in California, Hooked in Melbourne and Les Bacchanales in the south of France which provoked his curiosity about the different cultures and their different ways of preparing food and drinks. In 2012, homebrewing began in the home kitchen. Using his skills as a chef he tried to combine food and drink to create a "round experience". He developed a great passion for the technical aspects of brewing and, excited by the challenge of creating a balanced and complex experience, in 2015 he decided to give up cooking and devote all his energy to brewing. Fascinated by the brewing world, he traveled around Europe to visit craft breweries in Austria, the Czech Republic and southern Germany. He came back full of ideas and inspiration. Finally, he decided to open his own brewery in his hometown of Besalú, Catalonia.

"Real drinking reflects only the last part of the process"

Philosophy

His training as a professional chef and his experience in several Michelin-starred restaurants influence his brewing style, as does his deep connection to nature and all that it has to offer. Nash is dedicated to using only the highest quality ingredients to create its flavorful craft beers. This includes seasonal variations with carefully selected ingredients from the region, as well as the integration of new elements of foreign cultures to offer a round, authentic and unique experience. "Real drinking reflects only the last part of the process" Therefore, its concept is to invite the beer lover to immerse themselves in the world of brewing, visiting the Hopsters factory and tap-room in the medieval town of Besalú. Aside from having the opportunity to try all the beers, visitors can also take guided tours of the brewery and learn about the process behind each beer. Authenticity, honesty and a passion for beer should shine through every bottle!
